If you’re flying for Thanksgiving, be sure to pack extra patience and perhaps take advantage of your airline’s travel waivers.

If you do get into a jam at the airport, call your airline’s reservations line as soon as you can. You can also tweet to your airline and possibly get a faster response—although some airlines are much better than others.
